HOW DO I USE THE POREFESSIONAL DEGUNKER?
- Cleanse face thoroughly and leave skin damp.
- Twist off the tool to remove the cap. Squeeze formula on to your finger, and distribute in an even, opaque layer onto damp skin focusing on oil-prone areas like your nose, forehead, cheeks, and chin and let it sit for 15-30 minutes. You may feel a gentle tingling sensation after the formula is applied.
- Pro tip: The more gunk you have, the longer you’ll want to wait. After 30 minutes tops, rinse off the formula with warm water or remove with a clean, damp washcloth.
- Okay, now you’re ready to start degunking! Reattach the tip.
- Pro tip: It’s very important to start extractions with wet skin and re-wet as needed to reduce friction between the tip and your skin!
- Use one finger to hold the skin taut while using the tool in your other hand to push out pore-clogging debris. Use gentle yet firm pressure as you glide the tool across skin at a slight angle. If you experience any discomfort, lighten the pressure. Extractions should be gentle and pain-free— Don’t force it!
- When you’re finished extracting, rinse off your skin. Be sure to clean the pore-extracting tool after use with soap and water.
- Skin may display some redness which should dissipate soon after, so we recommend using this product as a part of your evening skincare routine.
ARE PORE CLEANING TOOLS SAFE?
Yes, pore clearing and cleansing tools are safe if used properly. Please always follow the product instructions closely for the best possible results!
HOW DOES THE FORMULA WORK?
The POREfessional Degunker formula has an alkaline pH, whereas your skin has a more acidic pH. This difference in pH helps loosen and soften the dead skin cells around pores and preps skin for much gentler extractions. You do not need to wait for the formula to “dry down”. Formula should be rinsed or removed with a clean, damp washcloth after your 15-30 minutes are up.
WILL THE FORMULA STING AFTER APPLICATION?
There may be a gentle tingling sensation while the formula is working its magic on your face! This is totally normal.
WILL I EXPERIENCE REDNESS?
While slight redness may occur after use, this is totally normal and is usually a result of applying pressure to the skin during extraction. Any redness should be gone soon after!
IS IT PAINFUL TO USE THE TOOL?
No, it should not be painful to use this tool. If you are experiencing pain, please lighten the pressure and adjust the angle of the tip against skin. And remember to re-wet skin as needed throughout the process to reduce friction of the tip against skin.
HOW MUCH GUNK SHOULD I EXPECT TO REMOVE?
Gunk levels are different for everyone! If you feel that you have more gunk to give, we recommend leaving the formula on your skin for up to 30 minutes. Never force it! If that’s all the gunk you got, consider yourself degunked and wait till things fill up again over time ;).
HOW DO I KEEP THE TIP CLEAN?
The extracting tool is made with stainless steel, so it stays rust-free and it’s easy to clean. Make sure you keep it clean by rinsing with soap and warm water when you’re done degunking.
WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD I AVOID WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT?
Even though your skin bounces back after using The POREfessional Degunker, it is recommended to avoid acids and retinols or anything with potentially reactive ingredients immediately before and after to reduce the chance of sensitivity.
