The Ultimate Guide to Brow Lamination

Your brows do more for your face than you probably give them credit for. They frame your eyes, express your mood, and can serve as the architecture of your entire look. And yet most of us are rebuilding them from scratch every morning with nothing but a pencil and a prayer.

Brow lamination changes that.

This long-term brow-lifting solution makes your brows look fuller & fluffier without the daily rebuild. In fact, just one appointment can give you results for up to six weeks. That means a lot less time spent arguing with your spoolie every morning.

What is Brow Lamination Exactly?

Brow lamination repositions your brow hairs so they sit in a specific direction, usually brushed upward and straightened out. During the service, a technician will apply a chemical solution to the brows to soften each hair's internal structure. This allows the brow tech to reshape and redirect strands. Once set, the hairs hold that shape on their own.

The result is brows that look thicker, more defined, and effortlessly groomed without any daily styling.

Brow lamination is especially great if your brow hairs tend to grow in different directions, if you have gaps you’d love to camouflage, if you want brows that look styled without any product, or if you just want a fluffy, brushed-up look without committing to microblading.

Fun Fact

Brow lamination originated in Russia around 2018, inspired by hair perming and lash lifting techniques. By 2019, it had already swept through salons across Europe and North America.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Brow lamination requires expertise and artistry. Here’s exactly how your Benefit Brow & Beauty Expert (or BBE) will lift and lam those brows:

●      Step 1: Brow mapping – Before anything touches your brows, your BBE will map out the ideal shape for your face. Then, they’ll brush your brow hairs upward into the mapped shape so you can actually see the direction and fullness before anything is set. This is your moment to say "Yes, obsessed" or "Hmm, let's adjust.”

●      Step 2: Relaxing the hair follicles – A straightening solution is applied to each brow, softening the hair follicles so the individual strands become pliable enough to reposition. The solution gently breaks down the bonds in your brow hairs, giving your technician a short window to reshape them.

●      Step 3: Lifting & redirecting – Your technician will lift & redirect each strand into its new position, following the mapped shape. They’ll fan the hairs outward & upward, filling any gaps along the way to make your brows appear naturally fuller.

●      Step 4: Fixing solution – A fixing solution resets the bonds in your brow hairs so they hold their shape long after you leave the chair.

●      Step 5: Cleaning up – Your brow tech will clean up any stray hairs that fall outside the mapped shape to give you a polished finish.

Finally, you’ll walk out with brows that look lifted, full, and structured.

Benefits of Brow Lamination

Brow lamination has become the talk of the town (or, more accurately, the world) for good reason, offering benefits like:

●      Fuller-looking brows without the need for product

●      Low-maintenance mornings

●      Long-term results (up to six weeks!)

It’s also a service that works for any and every brow type. Whether you have thick brows, thin brows, or brows that grow in every direction, lamination adapts. Full brows end up with editorial-level polish, sparse brows get the illusion of density, and stubborn hairs are finally all on the same page.

How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?

Professional brow lamination typically lasts up to 6 weeks, though the exact timeline depends on your hair's natural growth cycle and how you care for your brows afterward. Some people notice their brows starting to relax around week four, while others ride the full six weeks without batting an eye.

Luckily, there are a few things you can do to extend the life of your lamination:

●      Wait 24-48 hours before applying makeup – Applying makeup to or around your brows too soon can mess with the process and cause your brows to lose their shape.

●      Nourish with a brow oil – After the first 24 hours, give your brows some well-deserved hydration. Whoa So Soft Brow Oil is packed with brow-loving ingredients like sunflower & argan oils to nourish, apricot oil for shine, and castor oil to keep brow hairs (and the skin underneath) feeling soft. A few drops smoothed through your brows can help them look as healthy & vibrant on week five of your brow lam as they did on week one.

Can You Get the Brow Lamination Look at Home?

You can absolutely fake a lam with the right products and strategies:

●      Set & lift with a strong-hold brow gel – Use 24-Hour Brow Setter to position & keep your brow hairs exactly where you want them. Just pull the wand from your brow gel and let the product air-dry until tacky. Use the flat side of the wand to lay an even layer of product across the top of the brow, then flip to the comb side and brush upward. Our 24-Hour Brow Setter also doubles as a daily maintenance tool after lamination (apply a quick swipe in the morning to keep that salon-fresh lift going strong between appointments).

●      Fill gaps with hair-like strokes Mighty Fine Brow Pen can help fill in sparse areas and add definition. Its superfine 0.1mm triple tip pen creates natural-looking, hair-like strokes for fully defined brows with 24-hour wear.** Using light, upward strokes that follow the natural direction of your hair growth, simply sketch thin lines that mimic real hair. Between lamination appointments, use it to spot-fill areas of uneven brow growth.
